Trailer Lights Not Working After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness in a 2013 Toyota Highlander
Updated 08/12/2024 | Published 03/17/2018 >
Question:
Installation was easy, but it does not matter since it does not work. Is the 10-amp a shortcut of some sort, or will it only work once I put in the 30 amp fuse? The trailer lights work, as I connected to my truck to make sure it was my highlander.

There are 2 fuses associated with wiring harness # 118449 for your 2013 Toyota Highlander. There should be a 10 amp towing fuse that will need to be installed in the fuse panel. There is also a 10 amp fuse for power to the converter box that is in line with the wiring. If either fuse is missing or blown then it will not work.
The 30 amp "towing" fuse will also need to be present and not blown for the harness to work. Most Highlanders already have it installed but it is not out of the question for it to be missing.
There is also a 15 amp fuse located in the Type B fuse panel (see owner's manual) for trailer lights if you have that panel.

I see in your post you stated "There should be a 10 amp towing fuse that will need to be installed in the fuse panel" can you tell me which panel are you referring to. I have the 10 amp one the converter and I do see the 30 amp in the towing fuse location. Just not sure where the second 10amp goes

How about if both fuses are good but still have no power the harness?
