Question:
I need to replace my winch on my pop up camper and relocate it to the outside mounted on the trailer tongue. Old winch is located inside, but cable is broken. Now that Im replacing the cable I will have to figure out how to get the top up without the winch since I cant hook up the cable without opening the camper, so I just want to put a new winch in an outside location. Once cranked up it needs to stay up since family will be inside. Is this the right choice?

The Pro Series Standard Brake Winch - Cable Only - 1,500 lbs # PSKR15000301 is a great option for your pop up camper. It requires a minimum line pull of 50 lbs to operate, but has a first line layer capacity of 1500 lbs. For your application, you won't need a 50 foot line, so I recommend the Hand Winch Cable with Safety Hook 7/32" Diameter x 25' Long # DL24047 to go with it. I also like the removable handle to give you other options like a drill attachment or socket wrench as well as the safety feature of not having the handle accessible with the family inside.
