Question:
what is the procedure for torquing a crown nut ? I know how to do a double nut and a pro torque but if never had to do a crown nut

Expert Reply:
The castle nut on a trailer spindle should not be torqued down tight. This could cause excess pressure on the bearings that could result in heat-related damage to the bearings or spindle. The best way to go is to tighten the castle nut until it stops; then back it offer about a quarter-turn before securing it with the tang washer.
