Troubleshooting Rust on L-Brackets of Fastway Weight Distribution System

Question:
How do you deal with rust on the L-Bracket friction surface. The friction surface the spring arm round bars mate with rest on is bare steel. Being flat and horizontal, they collect water from rain and night/morning dew and rust rapidly. Do we have to remove them whenever we are not traveling? Is there a better way to protect them?

There really isn't a great way to prevent rust on brackets of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round # FA94-00-0600. You are right that the bare steel needs to remain bare in order to have the friction needed for the system to function correctly, so I recommend simply covering the brackets when the system isn't in use and replacing the brackets with # FA93-02-5150 as needed.
This is the first I've heard of this issue, but it makes sense that you would want to mitigate against it and protect your system.
