Question:
Interested in purchasing a Curt 5th wheel base rail adapter I have a Bulldog Round shank gooseneck hitch in truck, and I need info to make sure it will fit. It uses a draw-tite 19306 ball.

Curt makes several versions of their X5 5th wheel base rail adapter, such as # C16210 that fits their Double Lock gooseneck and # 16310 that fits the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck but there is not a version confirmed to fit the Bulldog round-shank gooseneck setup. I confirmed with my contact at Curt.
However, you do not even need base rails to use a 5th wheel hitch. Since you have the Bulldog gooseneck you can directly install the Draw-Tite Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # 9480. This 18K-rated fixed 5th wheel hitch will fit right into the gooseneck hitch ball hole.
There is a good way to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your gooseneck hitch, and that is to install a replacement Goose Box pin box on the trailer. These are pin box replacements that bolt right up in place of your pin box to allow directly coupling to the gooseneck ball. Part # RP85FR, for example, replaces Lippert 1621, 1621HD and Lippert 0719 pin boxes and couples directly to the gooseneck ball. This setup avoids the extra stresses on the trailer frame that can void a trailer's warranty. All three such items are shown on the linked page.
We also offer adapters # AM3139 and # CAB-C5GX1216 that adapt your king pin to allow it to couple to the gooseneck ball. Both of these provide offset to increase turning clearance.
