Question:
We will be purchasing a 2017 F350, 6 ¾ foot bed, with factory installed rails. Would like to know the weight of each of the 5th wheels below. Also, can the Curt products be removed in 2 pieces to “lighten the load” in the removal process? Thanks! Curt 16k – Code: C16520-16020 Curt 20k - Code: C16530-16020 Demco 18k - Code: DM8550024

The Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # C16520-16020 weighs approximately 254 pounds and the Curt Q20 # C16530-16020 weighs in at 278 pounds. The Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM8550024 is a bit heavier than both the Curt models at 289 pounds. All of these sliding 5th wheel hitches are confirmed to fit the factory rail kit on the 2017 Ford F-350 with a 6-3/4 foot bed.
If weight is a concern, I do recommend looking at either of the Curt models. This is because on these hitches, you can in fact remove the head with a simple and quick pin removal system. The head for the A16 hitch weighs 84 pounds and the head on the Q20 weighs 108 pounds. For either system, this will break it down into 2 manageable pieces so one person can remove the hitch.
Between the two, I recommend going with the Curt Q20 # C16530-16020, as it will simply give you a greater towing capacity of 20,000 pounds. Even if you do not plan on reaching this capacity, it allows for more versatility if you were to ever switch to a heavier trailer down the line.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this hitch that you can also check out.

"head" removed with a simple pin removal "head" of A16 is 84 lbs "head" of Q20 is 108 lbs. You are misrepresenting the parts that can be detached with a simple pin removal. By removing the pin, you are able to lift the head from the mid-section. The A16 mid-section plus head is 84 lbs. The Q20 mid-section plus head is 108lbs. The true head is a fraction of the total mid-section plus head. Would be great if the user could go to one place on www to get a table of accurately enumerated component weights for all the Curt or other designs.
