Troubleshooting Bucking and Rough Ride Using Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
Published 09/15/2017 >
Question:
I have gmc 2500 2nd 6.0 gas. Trailer is 10,000 lbs loaded with 1300 lb lounge weight. Have tried spring bars on 8th and 9th chain length. Have bucking and rough ride with both. Should I tighten spring bars?BXW1500

Expert Reply:
With your Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW1500 the rough ride and bucking could be from a couple of variables. If you have weight behind the rear axle of your truck, you may need a larger weight distribution system because that acts as tongue weight on a weight distribution system.
If you have too rigid a ride and are under the 1500 lb total tongue weight including your loaded trailer tongue weight and the cargo behind the rear axle of your vehicle, then you may just need to back down the system because it is effectively working too well at the chain lengths you mentioned.
Another thing to consider is adding suspension enhancement to your truck's rear axle. To give you recommendations for this, I need to know the model year of your GMC 2500 and bed length.
