Question:

I think these will work for replacement tie down straps for the older model Sear X-Cargo car top carrier see attachment. But I dont know how many we will need - can you please advise?

The Replacement Mounting Strap with Buckle for SportRack Explorer Cargo Box # SR02918 should great for your X-Cargo roof box. These straps are 1" wide x 40-3/4" long and many people have used them on X-Cargo carriers. You will want 4 of these straps to give you 2 on each side like originally come with the carrier.
