Question:

I was told that if i got this adaptor that i still couldnt use the generator that i have because i would overload the camper. Im new to the camper thing. I just want to make sure i have a generator i can use without messing anything up. I have included pics of the generator. The tag on my camper cord says 125v 30 amp.

To connect a generator's output to your camper's 30-amp power input you will need to ensure the two share the same connector. Part # A10-3025ED is indeed a 30-amp cord but we have products specifically made for connecting your RV inlet to your generator.

30-amp power cords are available in both 3-prong and 4-prong formats. Part # A10-G30253E has a 3-prong female twist-lock plug that connects to an RV's power inlet. The male twist-lock plug connects to your generator. For a 4-prong type use part # A10-G30254E.

You also want to be sure your specific generator and camper are compatible in terms of power demand. If you want to reduce the camper's power requirements a great simple way to do this is to replace any incandescent lights with LED equivalents that use about 1/10th the power. You may not have to do anything except remove the standard bulbs and install LED replacements.

You can use the list of bulb types on the liked page to see LEDs that will give you more light, less heat and demand much less power. If you ever run lights off a trailer-mounted battery then LEDs are an excellent way to conserve your precious RV power.

I recently purchased a small 2000watt generator...I only want it to run the lights in my 2014 shamrock hybrid..when I plug the generator to the rv I dont have any power to the rv...I know the generator works just fine am I missing something ita a 30 amp rv and I have the adapter to connect it to a regular 120v plug.... am I missing something?

Are you sure there is nothing else in the camper that could be drawing power from the circuit you have the generator hooked up to? I can't imagine that the interior lights would be too much for the generator, so I wonder if there's an underlying source that's pushing it over its max output such as an inverter or AC unit. Please let me know what you find either way and we can go from there!
