Question:

Looking for a cargo carrier for the back of my Jeep Wrangler. Need the 60inch x 24inch coverage and want it back far enough to miss my tire. BUt I also want to be able to open my gate when its empty. Suggestions??

For your Jeep Wrangler, I recommend the 24x60 etrailer Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs of capacity # e98874. It has a distance from the center of the hitch pin hole of your trailer hitch receiver to the closest part of your carrier of 19-1/2 inches when in use and 9-1/2 inches in the folded postition. It is 5-1/2 inches deep so you will be well under your spare tire and able to open your rear cargo door but it also has a tilt feature when in use.

If this is not enough clearance, I recommend using a hitch extender. This will limit your tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50% but will get you the depth you need to clear your spare tire. For this, I recommend the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 14" Long # C45795.

I recommend using the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 2-5/8" Span # 63232 to secure your carrier as well as limit noise and movement for both your adapter and the carrier.
