Question:
Hi. I am looking at purchasing a cargo carrier for my 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum model that has towing included. The one I like the best so far is the: 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs - C18153 I really like how this one can fold up when not in use. I am interested in also purchasing the following accessories to go this cargo carrier but want to ensure that these will be compatible. - Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2inch Hitches - 2-5/8inch Span - 63232 - Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier - Waterproof - 15 Cu Ft - C18211 I was not clear what accessories I would need to add a light kit to this cargo carrier. Would you be able to suggest some light kits and any other accessories needed to add a light kit to this carrier? Thank you!

The etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874 referenced in your question is a great choice for the 2 inch trailer hitch on your 2017 Ford Explorer. This carrier will provide you with inside/usable dimensions of 60 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 5-1/2 inches tall. As you mentioned, the carrier can easily fold up toward the rear of your Explorer when not in use. It also tilts away from your vehicle, even when loaded, so you can get to your back doors.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
Then, the Let's Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 that you also referenced is indeed compatible with this carrier and your hitch. This will drastically reduce any movement or vibration of the carrier's shank inside the hitch receiver and the barrel-style lock will help deter theft of your cargo.
The Curt Cargo Bag # C18211, with its 56 inch long and 22 inch wide dimensions, will then fit perfectly inside the cargo carrier. It will give you 15 cubic feet of storage space. You can add some standard padlocks like the Master Lock # 141T to secure the bag's contents.
Finally, if the cargo bag or whatever you plan to load inside the carrier will block your Explorer's tail lights, you can certainly add a lighting kit. While there isn't a specific light kit that is designed for the carrier, the LED Light Kit # e98943-44LED is a great option that will work well. The light kit features brackets and a 4-Way connector that you can plug right into the 4-Way on your Explorer to activate them in correspondence with your vehicle.
This is everything that you will need to install the cargo carrier on your Explorer.
