For your 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 Stepside 4x4, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13322. This hitch has a round tube design with a black powder coat over a protective base coat.

If you need wiring, I recommend the Replacement Multi-Tow 7-Way & 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 74682 which will plug directly into your factory wiring.
