Can Leaf Springs be Mounted Below Trailer Axle # 20440I-ST-72

I installed this axle underneath my slipper spring SP-179275, thinking this would provide more trailer height. However, I noticed that the axle Vinch shape of the axle is pointing down, causing my wheels to kick out at the bottom and uneven tire wear. Id put the axle on top of the spring, but theres not much room between the top of the axle and the trailer frame see image. I was looking at an over/under conversion kit K71-384-00, but it looks like theyre not recommended for the slipper spring style. What are my options? Taller slipper springs? Over/under conversion kit? Thanks for your help!

All you have to do to mount the leaf springs to the bottom of trailer axle # 20440I-ST-72 is to weld on new spring seats to the bottom of the axle. This axle has a 1-3/4 inch outer diameter so you would need 2 of spring seat # TRSS175. Welding should be done by a professional welder.
Trailer suspension needs about 3 inches of space to travel so if there is not enough space then you would also have to use taller hangers.
Dexter does not recommend using the over/under conversion kits with slipper spring suspension but really welding on new spring seats is essentially the same thing.
