Question:

Do you know if the 2016 Silverado LTZ model has the connector in the panel to add a trailer brake controller. Thanks

Based on my research, your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ should have the factory brake controller connector installed. It will be located behind the lower portion of the dash on the left side. There will be a box that has a lid on it, directly behind the parking brake. Just remove the lid to expose the brake controller port.

I have attached an installation video on a 2014 Silverado for you to check out. The location and installation process for your 2016 model will be the same.

If you do not already have a trailer brake controller, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885, along with the plug-in adapter # 3016. This is a great proportional controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your truck. It features an easy to read LED display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues. This unit is well known for its reliability and ease of installation.
