Replacement Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier with Damaged Pin Holes on 2012 Toyota Tacoma
Updated 04/25/2017 | Published 04/24/2017 >
Question:
I have an older folding hitch cargo rack, and it is solely dependent on the pin and the pinholes to hold it out straight when its unfolded. The pin has bent over time, and the holes have enlarged so it now droops down several inches. Do you sell any folding hitch racks that, when in the unfolded position, are supported by more than just a pin? thank you!

All of our hitch mounted cargo carriers are supported by a hitch pin like other hitch mounted accessories. The damage to the holes on yours is either due to it's just that old and has been used that often or it's being overloaded. I strongly suggest replacing the carrier with one that isn't damaged. I've linked our selection of cargo carriers. The most popular we have is the Curt # C18151 rated for up to 500 pounds.
If the hitch pin hole on the trailer hitch is also damaged I would replace the hitch too. For your 2012 Toyota Tacoma I suggest the Draw-Tite # 75236. This is a bolt-on hitch and I've linked the installation for you. The hitch also has a max tongue weight capacity of 500 pounds. So the carrier plus its cargo cannot exceed this.
You should also verify the capacity of the Tacoma.
For a replacement pin use # PC3.
