Trailer Jack Recommendation to Replace Whats on 7k Trailer

Question:

I have a United 23foot enclosed trailer with tandem 3500lb axles. Trailer weight is 2800lbs empty, with a 7000lb capacity. The A frame jack broke and needs to be replaced. I cannot find a part number on the existing one to compare. What capacity jack do I need?

When picking out a trailer jack based on capacity the relevant weight figure on the trailer is the tongue weight. That's the actual weight that the jack will be lifting. If your trailer was fully loaded it's tongue weight would most likely be right at 700 lbs. Which means we have a ton of great options for jacks as most of what we carry exceeds that capacity by quite a bit.

I recommend the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack Item # JET-5000.

It has a lifting capacity of 5,000 lbs which would be more than you'd need but will ensure that the jack will operate quickly and last a long time.
