Installing Tekonsha Prodigy on 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:
I have a Takonsha Prodigy not the Prodigy 2 brake controller that I have been using on an earlier model chevy. I have recently purchased a 2011 Chevy 1500 Silverado. Will the original Prodigy work on the 2011?

The original Prodigy will work great with your 2011 Silverado. Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, so you should have no worries. You do not mention how old your previous Chevy is, but keep in mind that beginning with the 2007 model year new body style, GM stopped installing the port under the dash for the controller to plug into. The tow package wiring is now located above the emergency brake with a white tag on it. The bundle would need to be pulled away from the harness it is taped to, and wired directly to the Prodigy as follows:
The red and black striped wire on vehicle attaches to black wire on the Prodigy. The white wire on the vehicle attaches to the white wire on the controller. The light blue wire with the white stripe on the vehicle attaches to the red wire on the controller, and the dark blue wire on the vehicle attaches to the blue wire on the controller. The orange wire is not needed, and should be taped off and bundled up out of the way.
We have a help article that will walk you through the process, I have supplied a link.
