Recommended Trailer Guide-Ons for Classic Sailboat

Updated 03/06/2017 | Published 03/03/2017

Question:

I have an old classic sailboat along with the original trailer. I have rebuilt everything and now looking for some trailer guide ons however, I see even your CE Smith 60inch only allows one to get the upright portion 13 inch out from the trailer frame. The 13 inch would be barely big enough unless the bracket is designed to angle the upright arm out a tad but even then, it would rub against my gelcoat on the sailboat. Would love to have a straight up design to only hit my rub rails on the sailboat. I have attached a photo that might help. Thank you!

You are correct in stating that the guideposts on the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers - 60" Tall # CE27640 will only adjust out to 13 inches from your trailer. The mounting brackets used will not be able to provide any additional length.

If you need a bit more room and are okay with taller guideposts, I recommend the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons - 75" Tall # CE27636. These are quite a bit taller at 75 inches, but they are able to adjust out to 19 inches from your trailer, which should give you the required room for your Sailboat to safely rest between. This product includes the necessary mounting hardware and I have attached the installation details.

I have also included a video review of this product for you to check out.
