Does The Center Hole/ Pilot Hole Size Matter If It Is Larger Than My Existing Wheels When Replacing?
Published 01/12/2017 >
Question:
Your 5 on 5 1/2 inch trailer wheel will fit my 10inch tire and trailer. However, the center hole on your wheel is much larger than the existing wheels on my trailer wheels. Does this make a difference??

Expert Reply:
The pilot hole on the Steel Solid Center Trailer Wheel - 10" x 6" Rim - 5 on 5-1/2 - White, # AM20053, is not an issue if it is bigger than your hub. We give the measurement of 4 inches in case the pilot hole is too small to fit over your hub center. Trailer wheels are centered on the lugs, so as long as you have the correct bolt pattern, the wheels will fit and operate correctly.
Vehicle wheels are hub centric so that pilot hole is critical. Trailer wheels are lug centric so as long as the bolts line up, the tire can be centered by the lugs.
