Are Backing Plates Necessary for Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160

Question:
I purchased two sets of the EM09160 in order to secure all four wheels of my 2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat X Limited to my aluminum trailer. If I use thick and wide washers on each of the bolts underneath, do I really need a backing plate for each wheel chock?

It looks like each chock and strap from 2 of # EM09160 will need to be able to hold around 375 pounds to handle the weight of the 2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat X Limited and that is just static load and does not include the forces applied to the chocks and straps when traveling.
The more support you have underneath the trailer for the chocks the stronger and safer it will be. If you use just washers they would need to be large diameter washers and 1/8 inch thick if not more to provide the same support as a backing plate. But it can be done.
