According to the manufacturers installation instructions, on the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler, like part # RP85FR, the starting operating pressure on the air spring should be around 35-40 psi.
The instructions explain that once the Reese Goose Box is installed, you can add or remove pressure to adjust to your ride quality preference. As long as you stay in between the 35-50 psi range and do not exceed 50 psi, you should be able to fine tune the air spring to your ride specifications.
The coupler has a sticker mounted on the side of box that is used as a reference point when airing up the air spring. There is a green area on the sticker that you are targeting for when setting the air spring bag for ride level.
Note: There are different manufacturer configurations of 5th wheel pin boxes on trailers. Before you can install the Reese Goose Box you will need to verify the model and part number of the pin box on your trailer. For instance, Reese # RP94716 fits Lippert pin boxes 0719, 1621 and 1621HD and Fabex PB-600 series. There should be a tag located on the pin box that will give you the information you will need to pick the correct Reese goose Box.
