I checked the owners manual for your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser and there is nothing keeping you from using a weight distribution system on your vehicle. The towing capacity of your vehicle is rated at 5000 lbs, and tongue weight is rated to be a 500 lb capacity.
The most important thing when looking at a weight distribution system is the total tongue weight. This is the tongue weight of your completely loaded trailer (which is typically 10-15% of the total towing weight of your trailer), along with any cargo weight that sits behind the rear axle of your FJ Cruiser. You will want your total tongue weight to be as close to the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight spectrum as possible.
The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW, # FA94-00-0600, has a tongue weight minimum of 400 lbs and a maximum of 600 lbs. If you were towing a trailer at your vehicle's maximum capacity of 5000 lbs, with no cargo behind the rear axle of your FJ, this would be a great system.
I've attached an article to help you determine the best system for your application as well as you you determine the actual tongue weight of your trailer.
