Will the Bolt Hitch Lock Coded for Toyota Keys Function on a 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

This a wonderful idea having several locks being able to use the ignition key. My question, the three Toyota sample keys you show do not match the key for my 2016 Tacoma, is there still a chance the BOLT Locks will work. I have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, SR5, Four door.

The Bolt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches # BL7023584 will work with only standard cut keys on Toyota products. According to Bolt, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma has a center cut key and Bolt lock pins will not work with the center cut keys.

Unfortunately, as of right now neither Bolt or any other manufacturer at this time has a locking hitch pin that will use the center cut style that is used on your Tacoma's key.

If you are looking for a locking hitch pin, I recommend the Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set # 2848DAT. This loc kset will work with either 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches. The kit includes both a receiver hitch lock and a trailer coupler lock. Includes 2 key-alike keys that will work on either the hitch or copuler lock.
