Hello Mark,

This one had me stumped. I compared our product pages, saw nothing. I went on CURT's website and found one extra word in the product details: "Packaged." Yes, that is all. They are packaged differently.

As you'll see in the pictures I attached, the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K # CU46FR comes with that lovely little orange box attached. The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K # C40047 will not come with that additional orange box, so you'll just have to learn to live without it if you order that one.

Other than the packaging, they are the exact same hitch ball. Both feature CURT's RockerBall technology, which uses a built-in rubberized cushion to help absorb the shock and vibration that normally transfers between the tow vehicle and trailer. That can help reduce chucking and jerking while towing, making for a smoother, more comfortable ride for both you and your trailer.

Now onto the real mystery, finding out why we have both of them on the site.

What are you planning on towing with it?

Hi Mark, At the moment I do not remember which CURT RockerBall I purchased from etrailer. I can attest to the improved towing with this ball hitch and the absorbent capability of towing with it on roads that are rougher than others. I felt an immediate improvement when I switched to the CURT RockerBall from the standard ball hitch! Hope this helps!

@Roy I do think that the packaging looks better in the orange box. Thanks for the response Roy. I hope you used the little orange box to plant a tiny plant =)
