Towing can be brutal, especially when your setup is outfitted with standard, metal-on-metal components. Steel and aluminum can only absorb so much vibration and chucking, so every time you hit a bump in the road, that shock gets transferred to the rest of your rig, leaving it vulnerable to wear and tear. Another unfortunate side effect is an uncomfortable ride for you and your passengers.

Protect your truck and trailer from road shock, vibrations, and rattling - and stay comfortable while you drive - with the shock-absorbing Curt RockerBall hitch ball.

Shock Absorbing ShockDrop Technology

Curt RockerBall with SockDrop Technology

The RockerBall hitch ball features Curt's innovative ShockDrop technology, which is engineered to suppress vibrations and rattling while you're towing. When you hit a bump, the ball compresses around the flexible, polyurethane core. This durable material absorbs excess shock at the coupling point so that it doesn't transfer from the truck to your trailer or vice versa. The result is increased control and comfort as you tow, as well as less wear and tear on your towing setup.

Premium Construction

Curt RockerBall Construction

This hitch ball is built to last with its forged steel construction and durable powder coat finish. The flexible, shock-absorbing polyurethane core withstands extreme heat for long-lasting performance, and the chrome-plated ball resists corrosion.

Curt RockerBall Zerk Fitting

The built-in zerk allows you to lubricate the isolator core when necessary, ensuring quiet and trouble-free operation.

Great product!

by:

This all-in-one kit does everything it promises to do. I wish I'd learned about it sooner.

by:

So I’ve been wanting the rocker ball for a while now and I’ve finally bought it. I bought the kit and it comes with a regular curt hitch, anti rattle kit, and the Rocker Ball. Construction seems solid on all Items. The hitch did arrived with a small area the size of half a penny of the powder coating chipped. I think it might’ve occurred during transit. Installation is fast BUT and a big BUT is very difficult to keep the rocker ball aligned to the hitch while you are torquing the nut. Mine ended up being noticeable sideways when I finished torquing it. I had to try it a couple of times and even then I couldn’t torque it all the way without 1. The rockerball assembly going sideways and 2. Without the tabs on the metal bracket bending.( one corner did bend. Anyways seems like a good product and if you don’t care of the Rockerball not being sorta aligned ( I honestly think that it shouldn’t be of fwhen fully tightened because then the rocker ball is not going to move straight back and straight forward) then I supposed it’s ok... If you are like me that gets bothered by details like this then find something else. I would’ve returned it but I scratched the hitch trying to get the Rockerball sorta aligned. Anyways take my experience with a grain of salt and good luck.

The hitch works great as advertised. A great company to deal with along with their prices.

by:

This Curt towing kit has worked flawlessly. The reduction in rattling and jerking is quite noticeable (compared to my standard hitch set-up). My primary use of the Curt kit has been the towing of my teardrop camper; logging thousands of miles already with no problems, and no problems anticipated. The only thing now, a year later, is that the chrome on part of the RockerBall in contact with the hitch has worn off, but this is not surprising to me. I am quite satisfied with this product.

by:

This was a game changer for us. The previous hitch receiver made so much noise and we felt the trailer a lot more over bumps than we do with this new hitch. Highly recommend.

by:

Works great. Eliminates the rattle.

by:

Works great!! No thumping on starts and starts. Excellent service too!

by:

Ball is not mounted. Pictures and videos show ball mounted. And when I have bought a “kit” in the past, the ball was mounted.
I can’t attach the ball myself and only reason I purchased from eTrailer was that pictures implied that the ball would be mounted.

This ball mount comes to us from the manufacturer as a kit, without the ball mounted to the ball mount. We do have a ball mount with a 4 inch that comes with the ball torqued. It is part # C45154.

by:

Somewhat disappointed in Curt with this product and I have always been a big Curt fan. The first one of these I ordered was the listed 3" drop unit. The base of the rocker ball is almost 1 7/8" tall so on a 4 inch drop ball mount its really only a 2 inch drop hitch so be aware when ordering. I had to send the first back and reorder the larger drop unit. When I received the larger drop unit I put it in the receiver like many other hitches I have used and proceeded to properly torque the ball down. Because the rocker ball has a pivot point its very important that it stay parallel to the receiver. Curt includes a sheet metal plate that shims in between the ball mount and the ball to prevent it from turning. The plate is no where near strong enough though and at 224 ft/lb the plate bent and the ball rotated. After the plate is bent it is almost impossible to get he thing torqued down right and lined up.

by:

Took an extra day to get it, but everything came in as promised and in one piece!

Another satisfying transaction =)

by:

Nice solid piece with weight. The only issue I have is that the ball is only secured down with a bolt and not lockable to prevent theft.

by:

Heavy-duty hitch! Customer service in finding the right one at etrailor was excellent!

by:

Very good quality and fast delivery.

Great

  • Recommended Rise for Ball Mount on 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness Towing Escapod Topo
The Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C43KR takes the additional height of the base of the RockerBall into account for the listed 4" rise and 5" drop. I have attached an image below showing how it is measured. Typically, you find the correct rise and drop by measuring the distance from the ground to the top of your receiver hitch opening and subtracting the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. This should be done with your vehicle loaded for accuracy, you do not...

  • Gen-Y or Curt RockerBall For 300-400 lb Tongue Weight in 2 Inch Hitch
For your tongue weight, you are right about the Gen-Y Glyder like # 325-GH-12001 not being the best option as that requires a tongue weight of at least 400 lbs to reap the benefits. So for your tongue weight below that, I recommend the RockerBall for the best shock absorption. The Convert-A-Ball and its polyurethane interior won't give you as much cushioning as the RockerBall (which is not compatible with the Convert-A-Ball or other cushioned ball mounts), which is why I like it more....

  • Why is the Rise Measurement Different From the Drop Measurement on Ball Mounts
The reason why ball mounts like the # EBMK4 have a different rise and drop measurement is because of the way they are measured. Rise is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for greater coupler height. Drop is the distance from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform when the ball mount is oriented for lower coupler height. Both are measured from the top of the shank. The reason for this is because you use the...

  • Can The Curt RockerBall Be Used With Convert-A-Ball Shock Absorbing Ball Mount?
I personally spoke to Curt who informed me their Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 should not be used with the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts including # CAB-UM. For the best experience I recommend using a ball mount with the correct amount of drop with the RockerBall and a anti-rattle. This will eliminate the play between the ball mount and your receiver allowing the RockerBall to absorb the trailer shock. We have a couple kits which have all the parts listed below otherwise...

  • Looking For Fixed Ball Mount For 2" Hitch With 5" Drop And 2-5/16" Ball
Hello Marilyn; I do have a solution for you. We have the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C53JR which is for a 2" hitch, has a 6" drop and a 2-5/16" ball. This is a heavy-duty forged ball mount and is rated for 15,000 lbs. If you prefer a standard fixed ball mount, I recommend the Curt Dual Length Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45240 which has a 5-3/4" drop. You can use this along with the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40007. If it were me I would go with the # C53JR simply because the ball...

There will be no issues with using surge brakes along with the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 6" Drop - 7K # 325-GH-12005. Also, the Glyder can be used with a lower tongue weight and an empty trailer. The only problem is you need to be at the 4-700 lb range in order to benefit from the built-in shock absorption. If your loaded tongue weight is going to be 250-300 lbs then I would not recommend using this ball mount. Instead, I would recommend the Curt RockerBall...
