What is the Ideal Height for a Ball When Towing a U-Haul Trailer?
Question:
What is the ideal height from road to ball, typically pulling a uhaul trailer. Im concerned with clearance on my 2016 Mazda CX-9, installed your Drawtite 76020 hitch. Bumper to current ball is 2inch clearance, looking for longer tongue ball. Just need to understand if I should also or raise?

The ideal height will actually have to do with how tall the coupler of the trailer is from the ground. The Draw-Tite # 76020 will sit at 13 1/2 inches from the ground to the top of the hitch when installed on a 2016 Mazda CX-9. From what I could find about the average height of the coupler on U-Haul trailer, they will sit at 18 1/2 inches. So with that being said, I suggest going with the Curt # C45240. This will have a 7,500 pound capacity and 4 1/2 inches of rise, putting you within 1/2 inch of completely level.
