Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Ford F-250 with Factory Puck System

Updated 05/14/2026 | Published 05/11/2016

Question:

I have a ford f250 and I have the pucks in my truck. I have just purchased a fifth wheel camper and hitch but the guy said that I will need to get the rails for it. What rails do I need

If you have the pucks in your Ford F-250 you actually already have a rail kit. The Reese Elite Slider part # RP30144 will fit right into the pucks. If you have a short bed truck this would be the hitch to get to allow you clearance to make tight turns.

If instead you have a long bed you would need the stationary version of this hitch part # RP30921.

2026 f 250 6ft 9in bed oem puck system. Is a slider hitch required ? I was looking at the 20,000lb companion hitch.

@WallyB A slider isn't going to be needed unless you for sure will need to make tight 90 degree turns. The 20k Companion hitch part # BWRVK3300 would be a great option!!
