Question:
I am designing a trailer and want to mount the 1200lb timbren axle less trailer suspension so the wheels are completely under my trailer bed. How much clearance do I need to leave between my tire and the frame ? How far will the suspension travel vertically ? Please let me know Thanks

I called my contact at Timbren to get some information for you about the axle-less systems.
For the 1,200-lb systems the distance from the center of the spindle to the underside of the frame where the bracket mounts it is 2-5/8 inches. And for these systems they have a deflection of 2-1/8 inches. I have attached a drawing that shows these dimensions you can check out. You will want at least an inch over the deflection distance. There is no hard rule because it depends on the road conditions and also the load on the system. If it were me and I had a 2-1/8 inch deflection I would want at least 4 inches of clearance from the top of the tire to the underside of the trailer.
You can use these dimensions to figure out how you can install the system and what tire clearance you will need.
I have attached links to the 1,200-lb axle-less systems we offer. If you have any other questions about a specific item just let me know.
Since you may be dealing with clearance you may want to look at a system like part # ASR2KHDS03. This is an axle-less system and has a 4-inch lift spindle which may help with the clearance.
