Question:
P3 prodigy . Will truck need programmed at the dealer for an aftermarket controller?
asked by: Steve L
Expert Reply:
A local Dodge dealer will have to reprogram the truck to disconnect the factory brake controller. That will allow you to install an aftermarket brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, which is an excellent brake controller by the way. If the factory brake controller is not disconnected, then you will have dash warning codes pop up once you install the aftermarket controller.
Once the truck is reprogrammed, you will remove the factory brake controller electrical connector under the dash and plug in the wiring harness for the aftermarket controller. If you choose to go with a Tekonsha brand brake controller, then you will also want the Tekonsha brake controller wiring adapter, # 3024-P.
