How to Pick Out a Trailer Rim and Ensure it is Rated High Enough
Published 01/13/2016 >
Question:
I need to replace a crooked wheel on my travel trailer that has two 3,500 lb axles. I am concerned about how to be sure I get a non-OEM wheel that is strong enough for the weight load and the twisting load induced on a double axle trailer this heavy 7,600 lbs. Is there a way to be sure I get something strong enough other than just matching diameter and lug pattern?

The trailer wheels we offer also have the weight capacities listed for each one in the product description. If you get back to me with the lug pattern and diameter wheel you need I can help you pick out a wheel that has enough capacity.
For example the part # AM20528DX has a 5 on 5 lug pattern, a 15 inch diameter and a capacity of 2,150 lbs.
Four of these rims would have an 8,600 lb capacity which would be more than enough for your 7,600 lb trailer.
I attached a help article on how to determine wheel bolt pattern for you to check out as well.
If you need a different sized wheel I attached a link to a page that has all of the rims we carry. You can use the filters on the page to narrow down which rim you would need based on bolt pattern and diameter.
