How To Remove Trailer Taillight that is Recessed Mounted in a Grommet
Updated 04/29/2025 | Published 12/18/2015 >
Question:
How do you take the old light out? My light is mounted in a hole with rubber seal just like your part # 435800. Do you have to cut the rubber or is there an easier way Im overlooking?

Our installer here will spray the light with some lubricant around where the light meets the grommet and then will use a screwdriver to pry the light out first, and then the grommet.
If you check out the install video I attached you will see this done.

Where is the video? I used to install these all the time on log trucks but that was 40 years ago. They are an excellent light, very reliable before LEDs and I am working on an old trailer.
