Your product is a T system that does not isolate the wiring of the trailer from the wiring of the Flex. What effects are there on the existing Flex LED lighting system when adding incandescent lights on the trailer. Will this overload the Flex wiring system when the trailer is attached? The Ford wiring harness DT4Z-15A416-A provides a separate fused circuit from the battery, and has a module that takes a control signal from the respective circuits providing isolation from the vehicle circuits and the trailer. The big problem is getting the power from the battery through the engine firewall, then through the interior of the vehicle to the module mounted in the back of the vehicle and then back out of the inside of the vehicle to the actual trailer hitch. By far your system is simpler to install, but there is no isolation of the trailer lights and I still have concerns of the additional load on the existing Flex wiring. I maintain the trailer wiring in the best condition possible, but wiring damage does happen. Your thoughts, please

Tow Ready trailer wiring harness # 118472 is just one option for the 2014 Ford Flex. Its the only option that does not have a powered converter like you are describing (for models without factory tow package). There could potentially be too much power draw if you were to use this harness.
Since that is a major concern for you I recommend using Curt harness # C56343 instead. It does require a direct connection to the vehicle battery. I have included a link to our help article with tips on routing the power wire for you.
