Troubleshooting Corroded Master Cylinder on Titan Actuator 60 Model
Updated 08/18/2015 | Published 08/17/2015 >
Question:
I installed the titan 60 zx7000 actuator on my boat trailer a month ago but, I didnt add hydrolic fluid and bleed the system once completed. I tried to manually fill and bleed the system but its not filling and pressurizing the lines. I have the bleeder screw opened one turn. I moved the actuator tongue back and forth 15 times and nothing is happening? When I removed the cap to fill up the actuator with dot3 fluid it looked like rust residue was inside. is this sign that the master cylinder has become corroded and is not allowing the fluid to be pumped through the lines? how difficult is it to replace with a cylinder replacement kit?

I spoke with my contact at Dexter/Titan and he said he doubts your actuator could have any serious rust build up in a month's time, certainly not enough to clog anything. He recommended cleaning the cylinder with an alcohol solution and paint brush making sure you slosh the alcohol around. It is fairly easy to remove the cylinder. Just remove the back cover, detach the line and loosen the four bolts.
Most likely the problem is that the coupler is not fully extended. If it is not fully extended no method of bleeding the lines will work.
