Actuator Replacement Recommendation for Tie Down Model 70

Updated 07/07/2025 | Published 06/25/2018

Question:

I currently have a Tie Down Model 70 brake actuator on a Venture trailer. The actuator is rated for 7000 pounds. It is old and I would like to replace it, what is a good replacement for this actuator? Thanks John

For a disc brake model with an electric reverse lockout solenoid you can use # 099-175-20. This would be a great replacement solution.

How about a tie-down Model 80? Drum brakes with pin lockout (however it backs up fine not using) It’s a 2016 Glastron GT180 boat trailer. The current actuator is vibrating badly at stops.

@Chris Yes the above mentioned Dexter would work great to replace that actuator as well.

@JamesonC Does is matter mine are drum and not disc brakes? The coupler itself says TDE model LP8000. However top of actuator sticker Model 80. It’s a 2” ball as well. Just want to ensure I order easiest replacement, doesn’t need to be this specific product asked under. Thanks again.

@Chris Sorry I should have noticed you said drum brakes. In that case you'd need the part # 099-175-00 which is for drum brakes that require lower psi than disc.
