Troubleshooting Tekonsha Brake Controller That Shows Open Ground, No Brakes

Question:
I have the p3 it start giving the open ground warning so I added a ground to a good ground bolt so I have the battery ground and a frame ground and it still showing the warning. But this morning my batteries were weak could this be the cause are could weak batteries cause the problem

The open ground error that the P3 is displaying means it has lost its ground connection to the vehicle battery. This could be a faulty ground inherent in the wiring on the vehicle where the harness plugs in. To see if that is the issue you can bring out a separate car battery if you have one available and sever the white wire on the harness and connect it instead to the negative terminal on the second battery. If that stops the error then you know the issue is a bad ground. A weak battery will not cause this error.
