How to Tell if a Trailer Brake Actuator has a Lockout Feature

Question:
How do I know if my hydraulic brake actuators include reverse lockouts? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
If you look at the actuators you have you should be able to tell if they have lockouts or not and what type of lockouts they are.
A manual lock out model will have a lever and likely something stamped into the metal of the actuator indicated the positions for lock and unlock.
A model that has an electric lockout will have a solenoid attach to the master cylinder at the back of the actuator with 2 wires coming out of it.
I have included a picture with a couple of examples for you.
