How can i tell if it is free backing 12 inch hydraulic brake assembly versus a uni- servo

Brake Assemblies like the Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 5.5K to 7K item # AKFBBRK-7 will have the description in the title that the brakes are free backing. We also offer the same size free backing brakes in different finishes.

Demco Hydraulic Brake Kit - Free Backing - Galvanized - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 7K item # 42029-28.

Hydraulic Brake Kit - Uni-Servo - Free Backing - Dacromet - 12" - Left/Right Hand - 5.2K to 7K item # AKFBBRK-7-D.

If you are looking at a brake assembly and are unsure if it is free backing then look at the brake shoe if the rear brake shoe is two pieces then it is free backing.

The main difference is brand. The #T4489600-500 is Made by Dexter here in the USA, while the #AKFBBRK-7-D is made by etrailer overseas. Both will work with the same hubs, and the same axles. Dexter also uses the Galphorite coating on those brakes…
