Troubleshooting OverLoad Code on Brake Controller With Trailer With New Wiring
Updated 07/06/2015 | Published 07/04/2015 >
Question:
I bought a curt triflex for my new trailer about 3 months ago. The brake controller worked flawlessly up until about a week ago. One day the controller gave me an ol code. I hooked the trailer up to my buddies truck and no code and the brakes worked fine. When I hook the trailer up to my truck all of the lights work but no brakes. I have tested the blue wire a couple inches coming out of the brake controller and it is giving me full power with no foot on the brake or trailer hooked up. Same goes for testing the blue wire at the rear of the truck on the 7 pin. I tested the brake power line on the trailer and no power when pressing the brakes or not pressing brakes . All wiring and 7 pin connector are only a few months old. I checked the truck and trailer for shorts and cant find any loose connections or exposed wire.

It sounds like you have bad trailer brake magnets on your trailer. Having a bad magnet can cause the problem you described and based on what you mentioned it would be the most obvious issue.
I attached a help article that details how to troubleshoot trailer magnets.
