Bearings Seem Loose on Strait Trailer Spindle

Question:

I have an axle on my utility trailer with a straight spindle that measures 0.985inch the hubs I have use th L43644 bearings on inner and outer bearings but the are for a 1inch spindle. My question is, can these bearings be used on this axle , they seem a little loose

It sounds like you have a BT8 spindle. It uses L44643 inner and outer bearings which have a 1 inch inner diameter. The BT8 spindle has a 0.99 inch diameter. If the inner diameter of the bearings was smaller you would not be able to get the bearings in place.

Other than the L44643 bearings there aren't any that are close to the measurement of your spindle.
