Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Brophy bolt-on half inch diameter D-ring tie-down anchor. Has a 2,000 pound working load limit. Now this tie-down anchor provides a nice solid point to secure your cargo with straps or bungee cords. Now to install this, it will require a backing plate for installation, which we do sell separately on our website. Goes by a part number of BP-1D.
And just to show you what we're talking about, I pop up an insert there and if you look closely at that backing plate, you'll notice it has a welded on nut on the underside of it, and that'll allow this to thread into it. This bolt would be. Now if you notice, it does come with the large washer that would go on and then put it into the backing plate screws in. What's nice is this D-ring, as you can see, will rotate 180 degrees so that you can attach straps from multiple angles. This is a zinc-plated steel construction that resists corrosion, retains its strength through repeated use.
And as we mentioned, the built-in bolt is nice and easy for easy installation. A few specs on this part, the maximum load or brake strength is 6,000 pounds, but you want to go by the safe working load limit, which is a third of that, so it's 2,000 pounds. The ring diameter, the diameter of the ring itself is a half an inch. The opening on the ring is 2 1/4 inches across. Now the bolt.
Lemme get a ruler out here. The length of the bolt itself, you can see is right at 3 inches. The diameter of the bolt is gonna be right at 5/8 inches. And the thread size on this bolt is 5/8 inch by 11 thread size. But that should do it for the review on this Brophy bolt-on half inch diameter D-ring tie-down anchor with the 2,000 pound working load limit.

We've been using this on our chopped U-Haul for the past year and it's worked awesome. No issues - they've held up great! I just wish the manufacturer sent it with a bolt, other than that they've been great!
Does not flush mount. Does not come with mounting hardware.
Ordered three pieces and two came silver and the other one was black
Items were back ordered so I waited an extra couple weeks.

Works great! One of the best things I have added to my trailer. They use a course 5/8" thread. There seems to be some confusion on that. I just welded 5/8" nuts to cross members.
The anchors are great, But could you at lease include the locking nuts and one more flat washer each so I don't have to go to hardware store and buy some!

Product is alright, but I feel for $[XX] it should come with a lock washer and nut or a lock nut.
Amazing product!! I searched for months for an alternative fix to my Bilco Doors that would not stay open any longer.
One year later and the Brophy D-Ring still holds my door up perfectly.
The purchase with etrailer was easy and the delivery was fast.
Excellent D-Rings, the thing that would make it outstanding is for it to come with a set of lock washers and nuts.
The D-ring is very HD. I wish the bolt was a little longer. I wanted to go through the 2x2 steel frame and 3/4 plywood, not many threads to nut to.

These were beefier than I had anticipated which I loved. The bolt diameters were just the right size as well.
I was well pleased not only with the product, but the fact that it came to me much quicker than I expected.
I do have one concern and that is; I rec'd the 4 anchors, and the 4 large washers, but no nuts. How am I to secure without nuts?

I am well satisficed as the D-Rings do exactly what I purchased them for, however you folks must not have read the review as I have had no answer regarding NUTS
