Can Bunk Rollers Act As Guide-Ons on a Boat Trailer

Updated 05/21/2015 | Published 05/19/2015

Question:

Have you ever had anyone use them as guide ons? They seem like they would be a much better solution for centering a boat on a trailer than the bunk style guide ons. If so, then how did they mount them?

The # DL21754 Bunk Rollers you mentioned are designed to be mounted onto the narrow end of a 2 x 4 bunk board. If your bunks are turned so that the side of the bunk is in contact with the boat's hull, use the # DL21741 rollers, which would bolt directly to the long side of a 2 x 4 trailer bunk.

I used roller bunks on my PWC trailer, and they work incredibly well. Just make sure that you use enough bunk roller units to cover the weight of your boat. For instance, the # DL21754 you referred to has a 2500 lb capacity for two roller units. For a 5000 lb boat, you'd use two sets for a total of four roller units.

When we use the term 'guide-on', we're typically referring to something like part # CE27620.
