Question:

my shackle strap is 3 1/8in. for a single axle spring assembly ...... can I install a shorter strap?

The shorter shackle straps that measure 2-5/8 inches long like part # 115052GALV are typically used on dual or triple axle systems. A shackle strap that measures 2-1/4 inches long like part # TRSL225 are usually found in a dual-axle kit.

I have attached a photo of a shackle strap that shows where you should measure to make sure you get the correct length. Unless you are changing the springs, or other parts of your trailer suspension I would recommend using the same length strap when replacing, like part # TRSL313.
