Advanced RV Tank Monitoring

Traditional tank monitors have a reputation for being unreliable. Only a few sensors are installed inside, meaning that they usually only measure in quarter increments and can send false readings if they get dirty. When you're keeping an eye on how much fresh water you have, the difference between 25% full and empty means a lot, and that inaccuracy can be a problem.

The SeeLeveL tank monitoring system uses technology that can sense fluid levels from the outside of the tank. The sensors' flexible circuit board sticks in place and measures along its entire height. This makes it accurate in single-digit increments.

LPG Monitoring

LPG tank equipped with a remote sensor

Large RVs with permanent propane tanks often feature wired sensors on their gauges. These can go by different names, such as LPG gauge sensors, tank level monitors, remote ready dials, or R3D dials. If your RV has an interior panel for monitoring LPG levels, you know you're good to go with wiring already in place for an easy install. If you're not sure, check the tank itself. If the gauge has a wired sensor attached to it, you can connect it to the SeeLeveL monitor.

SeeLeveL sensors used for fresh, gray, and black tanks will not work on metal tanks of any kind, including LPG tanks.

Grreat solution to tank reading

by:

The installation of these tank level sensors was straight forward. The video from Garnet Instruments was very helpful. I had to order a cable from FireFly Integrations to connect the 709 panel into the CAN bus system in my RV. My tank readings are now more accurate and not subject to interference from debris inside my tanks. Very happy with this product.

I still have not managed to install the sensors. The side walls of the gray and black tanks are stepped, making the installation of the sensor strips a bit more complicated (vs, tanks with vertical side walls). Also I'm a little hesitant about how to connect the wiring.

I think (hope) it will be great when I'm done, but the process is more complicated than I expected.

Work great, seem to be accurate

We put the SeeLeveL system in our camper van about a year ago, and it has been a game changer for us. Before installing the system we only had a visual check on water level, by looking at part of the tank under the seat bench in the back of the van. It was inconvenient and because the tank is only semi-translucent, not always very accurate. The monitoring system remedied that. In addition, I can now monitor tank level while filling the tank by watching percent full from the back of the van... filling the tank used to be a two-person job. Finally, we have a 5 gallon gray water tank under the sink... we attached one of the sensors to the gray water tank, epoxied it for extra support, and wired the sensor to the system using flat electrical connectors so that it can be easily removed from the van for disposal of the gray water. It works like a charm, enabling us to monitor both fresh and gray water in the van. It was a simple installation, and I highly recommend the product.

Works just like it is supposed to

Package arrived ahead of schedule - thanks.

We’ll have the see Level system installed by professionals.

All appears to be good.

An excellent system! Simple reason: designed and Made in Canada! To date, "etrailer" was a great source for the various items required for our production line and we did not mind buying a Canadian product in the US. But obviously, in light of recent political events, this practice is no longer logical nor viable. Canadian RV folks and Vanlifers, take note. This item, and most of the others, are available in Canada.

Much easier to install than I expected. My fresh tank is surrounded by a metal shroud and required peeling half of the paper back and sneaking the sensor over the top, aligning the top to the sensor with the tank and pressing it in place through a wiring hole. then grabbing a corner of the paper and pulling it the rest of the way out. It sounds tricky but while the adhesive feels very secure it wasn't grabby. I could lightly lay an edge in place and still reposition. I don't think you could safely reposition if a large area stuck. The metal shroud is less than an inch from the sensor and it is working great, (many warnings in the instructions about keeping metal away, (These work on capacitance so a piece of metal can influence the sensor) The black and gray had to go on the ends because there wasn't room between the support rail the tanks hang from and the tank for the sensor to fit. You have to download instructions but really all you need to know is all of the sensor blue wires connect together with the blue line on the monitor and the black lines on the sensors can ground to the frame or I just wired them all together with the black ground on the monitor (and grounded that) And the red is 12 V positive. The white connects to the pump positive at the switch to light the monitor panel led. I have a 24V water pump and it didn't like it so I don't have the led. The switch is a SPDT so it can be wired with another 3 way switch to allow controlling the pump from two locations, or not.

Good
Follow through and was kept up
to date on delivery. Satisfied

by:

Great product. They work very well.
Would
purchase again.

by:

It is a Christmas present so I haven’t opened it yet.

by:

These sensors are so much better than the internal probes because they don’t get gunk on them. You can set the sensors on the outside and the positions that you want and it reads by percentage. I would definitely buy them again.

Outstanding ! The confidence with accurate tank level readings is a game changer. Not surprised that many mfgs have them standard on current model RV’s.

  • Does etrailer Carry Replacement Gears for Shelby 6101B
Hi Joseph, I'm sorry to say that information is incorrect. I asked ChatGPT about this out of curiosity and it said there must be a misunderstanding. It was aware of the fact that Shelby has been gone for years and the internal components are no longer available. Unless you can get a machine shop to make some replacement gears the only solution is to replace it with a similar jack like the Bulldog # BD195354, # BD190758, or # BD190754, or whatever other Bulldog jack you found, and take...

  • Recommended RV Holding Tank Monitoring System
Hey Wayne! The SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System item # SE59VR you were looking at, has everything you need to monitor the levels on your three holding tanks but also your propane tank if it's built in. The SeeLeveL tank monitoring system uses technology that can sense fluid levels from outside of the tank. The sensors' flexible circuit board sticks in place and measures along its entire height. • Is SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitor Availabile With the Sensors
Yes, to get the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitor # SE34VR with the sensors you need the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR. This comes with the same monitor along with 3 of the 12" long sensors you install on plastic tanks.

  • How Do the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring Sensors Work for Propane Tanks
With your trailer not currently measuring propane levels, I would recommend going with the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE39VR which comes with the water pump switch. The reason for that is because the SeeLeveL RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR which can monitor propane is only going to work if your propane tank already has a gauge with wired sensor. This is because the sensors in these kits will not work with metal tanks, including propane tanks. These prewired...

  • Can The SeeLevel RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR Be Mounted At A Diagonal?
I reached out to SeeLevel to determine if you will have any issues running the RV Holding Tank Monitoring System # SE59VR on a diagonal. They mentioned they have had issues with the sensors not working correctly when mounted on a diagonal. They said the issues weren't always immediate so while it may work at first there is a greater chance of having issues in the future. They said you are better off to run them vertically.

  • Propane Gauge Recommendation for Four 100 lb Propane Tanks
Thanks for reaching out! The tank sensors we have that you can use for your 100 lb propane tanks are the GasStop # GS84FR and the SeeLeveL # SE59VR. The GasStop installs inline with your tank hoses so you'll need 4 of them while the Truma SeeLeveL is an external sensor that installs on the outside. This can also be used for multiple tanks.

  • How Many Sensors Can A SeeLevel Tank Monitoring System Connect To
Hey Tracy, The amount of sensors a SeeLevel monitor can connect to depends on the model of the monitor. Each one is set to handle a certain amount of tanks and you can also stack a second sensor on each tank for increased height/monitoring on taller tanks. I've attached a chart below that shows each monitor and what functions they offer so that you can pick the right fit for your setup. From there you'd want to go take a look at your tanks and start figuring out where the sensors could...
