Recommended Aftermarket Hitch for 2014 Ford F-250 STX 4X4 SuperCrew with Factory Hitch

Question:

Hi, I have a 2014 Ford F-150 STX 4x4. It is a supercrew and 5.5ft bed. It has the factory tow package and the hitch is limited to 500lb TW/5000lb towing weight if not using a WDH. I would like to replace the factory hitch with another for the added tongue weight capacity. I plan to tow a ski boat that weighs around 5500-6000lbs and with 10 TW Ill be slightly over on my factory hitch. My question is will the bolt up no issues? I only see a down option for a truck with No factory hitchinch or factory hitch with 6.5ft bed. Neither of those apply to me so before I purchase the hitch I want to confirm it will work without issue. Thank you.

Trailer tongue weight (TW) is usually in the range of 10-15-percent of trailer gross weight. A loaded trailer of 5000-lbs will typically have a TW of 500-750-lbs. Power boats often have a lower TW since the heavier part - the motor - is well to the rear of the trailer. You can check your existing factory hitch's safety sticker to see its rated capacity when weight distribution (WD) is used. There is a chance you do not need to replace your hitch, just add a WD system.

You may want to refer to the linked article on measuring TW; we even offer a handy scale # e99044 that makes it easy to accurately measure this.

We do offer TorkLift Trailer Hitch # TLF1005H for a 2014 Ford F-250 STX 4X4 SuperCrew with factory hitch and short bed. This hitch is designed for vehicles with factory hitch rated to 10,500 lbs; it does not fit vehicles with factory hitches rated to 11,500 lbs.

Please let me know what your factory hitch sticker says and I will be glad to offer a suitable recommendation for weight distribution.
