Total Drop of Curt Front Mounted Receiver # C31017

Question:

Do you have the dimensions of the Curt Hitch # C31017? In particular I want to know how far below the frame the bottom of the 2inch receiver will extend. I have a 2005 RAM 3500 2 wheel drive and do not want to limit front clearance very much. If you dont have the dimensional draawing, do you know how deep into the plastic trim piece you have to cut to allow the hitch to fit? That would give me an indication of the clearance under the receiver. thanks for the help.

I contacted my Curt Manufacturing rep, who tells me the total drop of their # C31017 is 4-1/4 inches. The drop is the distance from the top surface of the mounting flange that would sit flat against the underside of the frame members to the lowest point of the receiver tube. So, if you'd measure downward from the underside of your frame member by 4-1/4 inches, you'll have a very good idea of where the lowest point of the hitch would sit. I've edited a photo that shows this distance.

Hitch manufacturers are very reluctant to hand out their build sheets or dimensional drawings, as they contain proprietary information.
