Troubleshooting JET-3500 Jack that Wont Extend/Retract But Light Still Works
Updated 05/05/2020 | Published 03/01/2015 >
Question:
My jack on the front of my travel trailer will not extend or retract. It has power because the work light that is on it works. What could be the problem. It was working when I last used it in the fall. I do know that I can manually crank it which it does. The trailer was new when I bought it in June 2014.

Since the jack grounds through the mounting assembly the first thing I would do is check the condition of the main ground of the trailer and for corrosion near the mounting assembly and clean as necessary.
Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. The main connector grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.
An inadequate ground would allow the light to still work but could prevent it from drawing enough amperage to allow the jack to raise or lower. Also make sure the power source you are using is adequate. If it's a battery that is powering the jack make sure it has a good charge.

How do you ensure trailer’s AFrame jack isn’t retracted to the point where it’s internal screw seizes up? Mine is toast.
