Ended up placing 400 amp hours of lithium and my dc to dc charger
THIS BOX IS A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TRAILER. FIT AND FUNCTION IS AS PROMISED AND PIECE OF MIND THAT MY BATTERIES ARE ALOT SAFER
Found it to be unusable. Venting from front would fill it with mud, dust and dirt.
I like this box a lot, but when it arrived it was bent some, which made it difficult to get the lid off. I wanted to start using it and it would have been a hassle to return it, so I deal with it. After installation (and battery installed) I almost never take the lid off, so it doesn’t matter that it is bent. The lock is a little difficult to operate because of the bend. For the cost of this it should be perfect!
This box is built well and the concept is great, the exception being the CH751 keyed camlock. First, I do not understand the logic of offering a secure lock box that uses a key everyone has. Second, the cam does not even rotate fully to a locked position to where I can remove the key. I'd give it more stars but the lock and locking system is ineffective as received.
Item arrived in insufficient packaging, was rolling around in over size box. Battery box was all banged up and scratched up. Some of the pop rivets have popped out from shipping damage. Emailed etrailer several time about possibly some touch up pain and simple gift card so I could keep the box as is, make the repairs my self and get on with my project with out delay. Never hear back from etrailer
Great company, horrible product!! The slots cut for the lid to attach to are 1 1/8 to big allowing the lid to slid and making it extremely difficult to align. a piano hinge would make more since. The lid is about an 1/8 to small. It's EXTREMLLY difficult to close and almost impossible to lock! The battery tie down is nothing short of a joke!!
It very sad as this company normally does an outstanding job. I've been a customer for a 2 years and will still continue to shop here!
I'm using this product to install 4 Trojan AGM GC2's on the tongue of my toy hauler. This box is designed to do exactly what I needed. I can put the 4 batteries in the box and still have room for a set of battery cables or such.
Used two Uni-strut bars bolted to the bottom of the box above the tongue and then two bars of uni-strut below the tongue and used 4 - seven inch long bolts to hold the uni-strut "solidly" together. This box isn't going anywhere!
Box was shipped quickly and arrived without damage.
It did not fit in the space behind my propane tanks and the stabilizer bar supports. I had to have it retrofitted by an RV repair shop and they installed it at a 30 degree angle. I would not have bought it if I knew it was not going to fit flat. Make 100% sure if you buy one that you have enough room first. It cost me $xxx to get mine installed.
Wonderful box, arrived in good shape. But then realized it has so many vents and gaps that it will never keep water out. Definitely not sealed to rain or snow. Working on a solution to try sealing the holes, without ruining the look of it. They could do better for the high price they charged.
I purchased this battery box because it was the only one that would hold 4 batteries. I expected that for the price and being "Made in the USA" it would be high quality. The first one I received came in a damaged box that used two pieces of wadded up brown paper for packing. The battery box was damaged and filthy, it looked like it had be walked all over with muddy boots. I contacted etrailer and they were very responsive sending me a new box and a return shipping label. The second battery box I received was also poorly packaged though it had additional cardboard stapled across the ends and a lot of extra tape. The battery box again was dirty and the lid was slightly damaged but it was something I could fix. The battery mat for the bottom of the box was missing and the hardware was short a couple of bolts and washers. I again contacted etrailer with a request that they send a battery mat. They were again very helpful and sent one.
After straightening out the lid so I could put it on it was clear that the bend for the slotted end was off slightly, it requires the use of a rubber mallet to get it on and off. The key lock is very cheap and is only useful for keeping the lid on and provides little security from theft. If there were another suitable size box available from another manufacturer I would have sent the second one back as well.
etrailer was very responsive and helpful. This review applies to TorkLift, I don't think I will be buying any of their products again anytime soon.
Boxs holds 4 group 30 battery with about4inch on one side good for a switch.. have to be careful on over turning it hit my tail light but that jack knife turning. Also keep battery cool in direct sunlight!
Purchased a year ago. Great storage and security for my 2 batteries at the front of my travel trailer. Works as advertised. I like the extra storage on one side for my tools and other items that I don't necessarily want to store elsewhere. I put my tools in a large plastic bag, so if moisture gets in (there are some holes on the sides and bottom that are good for air circulation - which I like) the tools don't get wet and rusted.
Overall good product but have made my own improvements which, for the price, cost it a star. I did add some stainless steel security screws in place of some of the aluminum rivets. I also had to seal around the edge were the diamond plate attaches to the main frame. The diamond plate makes a gap and it takes on a lot of water in the rain, especially when driving in the rain. Lastly I had to replace the liner they provide with some outdoor carpet. The liner which is supposed to neutralize spilled battery acid was getting a white sticky powder from all the water the box was taking on. Since I only use non-spillable batteries, the outdoor carpet is doing a much better job.
The item showed up and the top would not slide into place and lock. I had to bend the welded C channels so it would work properly. It was not a huge deal, but it was a bummer I had to do this on such an expensive product.

Thank you for your review. I am glad that you fixed your item but this product has a limited lifetime warranty so if something happens to your item in shipping, this would have been covered.
This custom battery box addition looks like it was original to the trailer. The diamond metal matches perfectly with our Outdoors RV travel trailer. It is beautiful and perfectly designed.
We did discover, unfortunately, that you must be careful with sharp turns, as the corner of the battery box is able to touch/dent/crack the rear taillamp of our Dodge Ram truck on a tight turn. The replacement lamp was relatively inexpensive and easy to install ourselves. Now we know how far to turn and to watch for this in the future. LOVE the box and how secure it keeps the batteries!!
It's a great box, well built. It mounts in the same space as the 2 original coach batteries, on the trailer tongue, between the coach body and the propane bottles. I'm able to put 4 lithium batterys, plus mount 2 terminal blocks, a meter shunt, and 3 circuit breakers for an inverter, DC to DC charger, and coach circuits. I painted the lid white, and may add cooling fans as it gets hot inside the box, here in SE Utah.
Package was delivered early which was very helpful. etrailer.com always provides great customer service.
The product was as expected and came with all parts and instructions. The battery box was easy to install and fit into the area on my trailer as expected. This is a super product for adding additional batteries to a travel trailer.
I am so thrilled with this battery box. I was a little concerned about how well it's size would do on my relatively small 16+ foot trailer. However, it fits great and the quality of the box is excellent and worth the investment. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to include side wall liner to protect against accidental sparking while the user is trying to (clumsily) connect several batteries inside the box. However, I highly recommend.
Nice battery box, I have four golf cart 6V batteries, and they fit perfectly. If you use the divider there is room for other equipment like a charge controller, etc. I am using this for a small solar power system. I had to work with the lock a little to make it work, I shortened the strike lever and bent a little bit but no big deal. Nice product.
This was the only choice I had for 4 batteries to fit on my Airstream behind the propane box. I had to tilt it forward 10 degrees to make it useable. My only issue is that I wanted a shorter version, because it limits my backing turning radius by 15 degrees on both sides, where it touches my taillights. Other than that, it works as advertised.
It hold my 4 amg batteries nicely. Held up to thousands of miles on front of my travel trailer. Looks good too. Gotten many compliments on it.
I have 4 Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries installed in this box. They fit nicely with a little room at each end, ( as it is designed for up to 5 ). I installed a couple of 2x2 aluminum angles to keep the batteries in position. The box is great, keeps my batteries securely anchored and safely stored out of sight. The box sizing was a perfect fit behind my propane tanks. The lock on the box was a little sticky but I ground the tab down a bit and it works fine now. The aluminum checker plate has not oxidized and the black wrinkle finish is tough and durable. Just don't try to wax it. I'm still trying to get the wax out of the little grooves :)
5 stars all the way.
Earlier this year I decided to upgrade my DC Power systems on my travel trailer. The project included two roof mounted 160Watt solar panels, 6volt golf cart batteries, and a 2kW AC Inverter. I chose the Torklift 5 battery security box because I needed to fit in 4 @ 6 volt deep cycle golf cart batteries. With this box, which can contain up to 5 batteries, I installed 4 golf cart batteries, and used the divider to create a separate section for my power junction and switch box. This was extra convenient because I wanted a secure space to install the source / disconnect switch and 300Amp fuse for my 2,000 watt inverter. (See pictures)
I had plenty of room to install an A/B/Both/Off marine switch, a common bus, and the 300 amp class T fuse block, safely segregated from the battery compartment.
The solar keeps the batteries topped off at all times, and the inverter will power everything in the coach except the Air Conditioning (which in Alaska I never use).
The Battery box fit perfectly between the twin propane tanks and the forward bulkhead of the coatch body. The securely locking cabinet will prevent theft of the batteries while in storage.
Love it !

Sorry to hear that, Kurt. What did you install this on? And potentially dumb question, do you still have it on there? Sounds like that's a no, but still figured I would ask.
