Can Thule Hullavator be Used to Carry Canoe

Question:

I’m trying to figure out a system to get my Hou 14 canoe onto the car roof and need advice about the width and weight capacity of the Thule Hullovator to take a canoe which is 36 “ at the widest point and about 26 kg

The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898 would be able to handle the 26 kg (57-ish lbs) weight of your canoe just fine but the shape of canoes and kayaks are different enough that the Hullavator Pro won't be able to properly secure your canoe since it's designed specifically for kayaks so we'll need to go another route.

For your application I recommend using the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # Y04069 and then adding in the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist # RR-RUSL into the mix to help you load and unload your canoe. You can also use a load assist like the Malone Kayak Hammock Hoist System # MPG346 to make loading and unloading easier at home.
