Hey Rick,

We can definitely get you set up with a trailer so you can haul your 17 foot Old Town canoe, and for that what's going to work best for you is a trailer from Malone:

- Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LB

I like the # MPG464-LB a lot because its crossbars are just 22 inches off the ground, which is going to help load your canoe, which can be a bit awkward just due to its size and weight.

The crossbars on the LowBed have a 500 lb weight capacity, which is more than enough for your canoe, and is able to carry boats up to 20 feet long, so you've got space to work with if you ever decided to get a different canoe at some point in the future. The only other thing you'll need is a carrier, and a great option that simply clamps around the crossbars is the Yakima KeelOver Canoe Carrier # Y04069.
