Today we're going to review part number UF48-979017 this is the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Steel Rollers for RVs with a 2-1/2" square hitch tube, this is for a quantity of 2. This part includes everything shown here on the table. It comes with the 2 skid rollers, the 2 mounting plates, the 4 U bolts, and then 8 lock nuts. These parts will help prevent damage to your motor home's undercarriage by mounting these steel wheels to your rear trailer hitch receiver. These unique rollers will clamp around the crossbar of your RV's rear hitch to prevent any tail dragging and digging in while backing up. Mounting hardware is all included.
They are made of a heavy duty steel construction which is extra durable. The wheels themselves are a solid steel so they do hold up very well. The specs on this again, it's designed to fit on a 2-1/2" by 2-1/2" square hitch tube. The diameter of these rollers themselves is 3" and the quantity is again for 2 of them. When you go to install these, what you do is start on one side of the hitch and you're going to drop these U bolts right over the top of your hitch tube. With those hanging down what you'll do is take your mounting plate, put it on top of your rollers and then just line those up, your U bolts will come right down through there.
This will be mounted around your square hitch tube, and then using the lock nuts you'll go ahead and put the lock nuts on and tighten it down to the right specs. The thing I do want to mention is once you get these installed after it's all installed you want to grease the bearings that are on the inside of these solid steel rollers on each one end there's a zerk fitting. What you'll do is get a grease gun, put it on that zerk fitting, then you can pump that grease into these solid steel wheels to help with the wear and tear on them. Just to give you a few dimensions on the mounting plate, the longest portion of it is going to be about 5-3/8", this is right at 4", then the measurement on the center to center on the holes is about 4-1/4" that way and this way is at about 3-1/8" that way. That should do it for the review of part number UF48-979017 these are the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Steel Rollers for Rvs with 2-1/2" square hitch tubes. .
They work very well for my application of getting up and down a driveway with a slope to it. They fit on the tube of trailer hitch nicely and I really like that these wheels have a grease zerk in them to be able to maintain regularly!!
The rear of the motorhome has caught the ground a couple of times, fortunately it has factory fitted brackets that hit the ground first but it's not a good sound! I bought the ultra-fab steel rollers, cut 3in of the brackets and welded the plate with rollers on, naturally, since I fitted them, we haven't caught the ground once, but I assume they will work ok when we do as they appear to be well built.
The new rollers are much better than previous rubber coated wheels, of which one exploded. Installation was straightforward, but lacking the proper torque specification for the nuts on the instruction sheet. This is an important omission that the company should address for safety. They were torqued to xxlbs in a cross pattern on our unit. The selection of grease is important with the units facing a variety of weather, or road conditions. Regular grease, once wet, will deteriorate into sludge, and possibly cause the rollers to seize. Used lithium based grease that is water resistant. Suggest the overage of squeezed out grease on either side be wiped clean to lessen dust or dirt attraction on working surfaces. Less than a 5 star rating has nothing to do with the product, just the incomplete instructions.

I have a carrier with ramp on the back of my Suzuki SX4. The back end scrapes on my driveway everytime I go in or out.
I mounted one of these wheels just ahead of the back end and now it rolls right over the end of my driveway, instead of gouging into the concrete.
It was the perfect solution for my little car.
These skid wheels take a licking and keep on spinning. Because of the change of angle in my driveway, my Class A MH would drag its tail on the way out and when storing. Not anymore! A rock solid product.
Received my steel wheels today and installed them right away on our 2019 Four Winds class C motorhome Easy to install less than 15 minutes and they look great. Can't wait to see how they work.

Received the heavy duty Ultra-Fab skid wheels from etrailer yesterday then easily greased and installed either side of the hitch receiver on our RV in about 20 minutes. They are very robust and I don't expect I'll have an issue with them falling apart after the first contact with a driveway or ferry ramp - or hopefully thereafter. As always, great service from etrailer as well!
Works well. Don’t need them very often but they’re great when you do.

Just what my Diesel Pusher RV needed! Nearly every diesel pusher needs to have this product! I wish I would have had a pair of these on my rig 2 months ago. It would have prevented me from being stranded after leaving a fuel stop. What happened is upon leaving a fuel stop the back end dragged on the hitch (not a big deal) but what I didn't know is the fuel filter on the motor hangs down close to this same level, so it got crushed and quit feeding fuel to the motor. This wrecked a weekend of plans. But God had a divine appointment instead. These rollers would have prevented the fuel filter from being hit, because it would have raised up the back end about 3 inches!. I do question the zert fitting in this model it seems like a solid bolt would be stronger. But I will replace it if the current one fails.

a year later. Still working well. I did drag at least one time with the rollers, they held up fine. Every Diesel pusher needs one of these in my opinion...

Just received the Ultra Hitch Mount Steel Rollers and I have not installed them yet. The online product details indicated that the rollers were to fit a 2 1/2 in hitch bar. The container/box indicates the rollers are for a 2.25 inch hitch bar. However, the distance inside the u-bolts is 2 3/4 inches. Therefore they should easily fit my 2.5 inch hitch bar. I will update my comment after installation.

They appear to be working fine.
Very high quality with rugged construction. Easy installation on my RV which had a tendency to drag the hitch receiver when going in and out of my driveway or transitioning from parking lots to street. No more dragging!! The rollers take the abuse with no trouble. Excellent product!

Great quality and fits perfect.
This product was very easy to install. It has provided protection for the underside of our coach from hitting the ground on several occasions.
Very solid. Excellent quality product.
Had purchased the larger urethane skid wheels which broke the first time they hit the ground. Really wasn't expecting them to last on a 38' Class A, my driveway transition is steep and irregular surface at street.
These steel rollers have held up great, even when I forget and hit the transition too fast. I added a third steel roller to the bottom of the receiver hitch also.
All three have held up great.

My 30' Class A RV had the 6" cast iron casters on the rear hitch. Needless to say, they didn't like the angle of my driveway. After searching high and low, I found these monsters. They are sturdy, have a grease zerk, and couldn't be easier to install on your receiver hitch.. If you want a little more height out of them, you can get u-bolts and a piece of square bar or heavy gauge tubing to push them down a bit more as they aren't very tall. I also noticed a nylon washer on either side, which should NOT be an issue, but if it is, they are easy enough to replace. If these aren't bulletproof, I don't know what is. Also, Stacey A at e-trailer was AMAZING with helping me through my order issues. Stellar service and prices.
Theses are heavy duty and very easy to install. Appear to be high quality and have lasted a year without issue. I bought these because of scraping the bottom of the hitch on my motorhome especially when backing up and pulling out of my sloped driveway and these definitely have helped. Easy to lube as well with a hand pump grease gun.
These heavy duty hitch rollers are the answer to avoiding extensive damage to the rear of the motorhome. I like the fact that they have greese zerks.

Unfortunately, the box arrived by mailman damaged with a hole & items inside were not there. The box was empty. The mailman said that's how it came in the msil. I contacted customer service & a new one is being mailed to me via UPS this time. Suggestion not to put a label to mail on the original box to let everyone know what you bought. It should come in brown box or brown shipping wrap.
